There are a few gambling dens located in the state, the majority on moored scows. The largest of the Iowa gambling halls is the Meswaki Bingo Casino Hotel, an Amerindian gambling den in Tama, with 127,669 square feet of casino space, 1,500 slot machines, thirty table games, such as vingt-et-un, craps, roulette, and baccarat, and several varieties of poker; including three dining rooms, bimonthly productions, and betting advice. One more substantial Indian casino is the Winna Vegas, with 45,000 sq.ft., 668 one armed bandits, and fourteen table games. Additionally, the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Council Bluffs never closes, with 38,500 sq.ft., 1,589 one armed bandits, 36 table games, and four dining rooms. There are many other dominant Iowa gambling halls, including Harrah’s Council Bluffs, with 28,250 sq.ft., 1,212 one armed bandits, and 39 table games.
A tinier Iowa casino is the Diamond Jo, a paddle wheel boat gambling hall in Dubuque, with 17,813 sq.ft., 776 one armed bandits, and 19 table games. The Catfish Bend paddle wheel boat, in Fort Madison, with 13,000 sq.ft., 535 slots, and 14 table games. An additional Iowa riverboat casino, The Isle of Capri, is open all hours, with 24,939 sq.ft., 1,100 one armed bandits, and 24 table games. The Mississippi Belle II, a 10,577 square foot riverboat casino in Clinton, has 506 one armed bandits, 14 table games, live productions, and Thursday blackjack events.
Iowa casinos present a great deal of tax income to the commonwealth of Iowa, which has permitted the bankrolling of a good many commonwealth wide activities. Visitors have grown at a fast rate along with the request for processors and a gain in jobs. Iowa gambling halls have contributed to the growth of the economy, and the excitement for gaming in Iowa is across the board.
