Cambodia Gambling Dens
Friday, 18. October 2019
There is an appealing history to the Cambodia casinos that lie just across the border from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling hall gambling is not allowed. Eight gambling dens are established in a relatively small area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a prime spot, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular wagering centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; still, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and though visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to pass, there are means around this, as is correct of many borders.
The original Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary bateau casino, features one hundred and fifty slot machines and sixty gaming tables. The Naga casino never closes with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, 4 tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of 150 slot machines and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slots and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the normal tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive vacation and hotel complex that highlights many amenities on top of the gambling den, which houses ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 gaming tables.
